Victory Wellness Center – Prevention & Intervention Services

/, Older Adults/Victory Wellness Center – Prevention & Intervention Services

The SFVCMHC, Inc. Victory Wellness Center provides a full range of recovery-based services including case management, mental health services, crisis intervention, medication management, pre-vocational training, resource education, peer support, self-help, recreation, and social activities for consumers in Service Area II who are beginning to address issues about mental health recovery. At this point, clients are just beginning to understand what mental health recovery is, and beginning to identify their personal barriers that prevent or impede progress in their journey toward mental health recovery.

The program is staffed 50 percent by professionals and paraprofessionals, and 50 percent by consumers. Victory Wellness Center is open to all consumers who receive Medi-Cal and are ready to begin addressing barriers to recovery. The program offers a mix of professional, educational, pre-vocational, social, recreational and peer support activities to promote and engage clients in their individual recovery process. There is a heavy emphasis on community integration. The program cannot serve persons on parole.

Referrals are required to attend one program orientation offered weekly to learn about the recovery focus of the program and how this supports the person in mental health recovery. Services are explained to participants, and if they choose to attend, an intake appointment is then set up. Clients are referred from numerous sources, including outpatient programs, Field Capable Clinical Service programs, individual mental health providers, self-help groups, NAMI, and the like.

Funding for the program is provided through the Mental Health Services Act.
